Reminders: We have our Celebration of Learning coming on May 16th from 5-7pm. Can't wait to see everyone there!
HUMS
-Our Book Buffet project starts Monday, April 29th. Students have been made aware that they need to choose a book and have their purple book buffet signature page signed by their parents/guardians for the 29th.
-This week we learned about industrialization in Canada during WWI as well as the Famous Five and the change in women's rights throughout the country in the early 1900s. Next week we will be looking at the Great Depression and the economic boom during WWII.
-We will be buckling down on our Canadian tall tale poems and "book covers" next week!
MATH
-We continued to work our understandings of fractions, equivalent fractions, decimals, and percentages.
-We will be continuing with this work and will be starting with area, perimeter and volume.
-We will starting on a larger project on this in the coming weeks! Super excited!
SCIENCE
-We will be continuing to work on our understanding of electricity, safety, and more in the coming weeks.
-We will be starting to work on our understanding of circuits in the coming weeks, both parallel and series circuits.
-We spent time this week looking at safety with electricity and some of the things that we need to think about when managing ourselves near sources of electricity.
-We spent some time looking at the Green Learning website and enjoyed poking around on this site(ask them what a brown out is!)
COLLECTIVE UNDERSTANDINGS
-We have had two assignments due now for the collective understandings in both 5-1 and 5-2.
-I asked the students to complete both a math contribution and a science contribution over these last two weeks.
-There were two blog postings reminding students, in class reminders, as well as information on the whiteboards.
-I have put up marks for this week.
-One in science and one mark in math. Please take a look on Powerschool. Many, many students have not contributed the first assignment or second assignment.
