REMINDERS
-Student led conferences are being help on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning next week. Students will be dismissed at 12:40pm on Thursday and there is no school on Friday. We are super excited to see everyone and hope that you are able to book in on the School Conferences under the 'Simmons/Croswell' button. We can't wait to share some of the good work we do!
HUMS
-NWMP Posters were due today. Students may take the weekend to finish them up and hand them in on Monday.
-We will be moving on to Western Immigration soon! We will look at the influx of immigrants into the West, who they were, and why they were coming (push and pull factors). We will also look at the strategies Canada put in place to advertise to other countries and who the countries were that they left out.
-We only have two parts left in True Blue Scouts! We have begun making comic panels to practice for our upcoming graphic novel assignment that will start sometime in April. Each student has been given a part of the story to illustrate using the medium of a comic or graphic novel panel. They can use callouts, speech/thought bubbles, narration, close-ups, and a variety of other devices to complete this. We hope to have them up for display at conferences!
PI DAY
Yesterday was Pi Day! We had the 1/2's from Eric Harvie join us for some fun Pi Day activities. We read books together, created Pi Day art, watched some videos about Pi, and ATE real pie too!!

MATH
-We spent lots of time this week working towards finishing
our work on If Canada were a village of
100 People. We have worked diligently on this for several weeks and cannot
wait to share it with parents at student/led conferences next week. Some
students needed to finish their title pages over the weekend. They have been
reminded that if they brought their red duotangs home to work on things, they
will absolutely need to have them here on Monday as we will be using them.
SCIENCE
-We have been
working on our final chemistry flip books throughout the week. We have been
looking at:
Topics
1. States of Matter
2. Acids, Bases and pH Scale
3. Physical Properties and Chemical
Change
4. Mixtures- Homogenous &
Heterogeneous
5. Key Vocabulary- Solute, Solution,
Solvent & Saturated
6. Methods for Separating Materials
-Students will be finishing these up this week and will be
sharing them in the coming weeks. We also will have some fun experiment
examples for parents to look through when we have student-led conferences next
week.
