Terry Fox Run Tomorrow! This promises to be a fantastic community event and we are so grateful for all the support from the parents and community members on this. Students are asked to bring a $2.00 for Terry. Make sure to check the weather report in the morning as it could be wet and chilly! Book Orders have come home for both classes. Mrs. Simmons will be sending in an order next week if there is anything you're interested in purchasing. You can order and pay online, just pay online through the scholastic account, or order with a cheque (made payable to Scholastic Canada). Titan Snack next Thursday. Order now so you don't miss out!

Week at a Glance

Housekeeping Items -5-2 field trip to Arts Commons next week is a go! There will be an email with more information sent home today. -5-1 has a blue take-home question for HUMS to complete and have signed by a parent/guardian over the weekend. Please return on Monday. HUMS We have been continuing our work with identity and exploring the question “How Do    I Impact Environments and How Do Environments Impact Me?” which we will be getting into greater detail in October with a segue into the mapping of Canada. We have also started our first read-aloud in class with the book  Holes  by Louis Sacher. We have been completing reading responses after each session of reading that focus on making connections to the story, digging into personal opinions of situations in the book, and enhancing comprehension in general. Students are also currently working on writing an ode to an object/person/thing that they enjoy or care about and will create a pastel “stain...

Volunteers Still Needed!

Thank you 5-2 parents for your quick response to the call for volunteers today. We only need one more volunteer for Thursday, September 27th and now one more for Tuesday, September 25th as well. If you could email bpcroswell@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to volunteer and have a current police check on file with TMC that would be very appreciated! We are hoping we won't have to cancel our field trip! We are nearly there! Thank you again.

HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS - Field trip forms for 5-2 are due Monday, September 17th. We still need 11 more volunteers! -5-2 is bringing home their Friday Take Home Question sheets today. They are in their orange duotang. Please review the questions with your student and have a conversation about the content. These sheets need to be signed and returned on Monday. Thank you! This week in 5-1 and 5-2... HUMS/WRITING We have been working on exploring the topic of identity as well as how we can impact the environment/how the environment impacts us. We are very early on in this but have made some webs and have started visual journal pages reflecting the topics. We explored the creative side of our brains by creating CSI pages. These pages have three sections - colour, symbol, and image where students are able to draw and write what they feel and visualize to a piece of music or a soundscape (Soundscape links:  Dreams by Nuages  /  She by Pensees / Don't Stay Here by Frames ...

5-2 Field Trip Forms and Volunteers

Field trip forms for our trip to the Hub for Inspired Learning at Arts Commons are due Monday, September 17th. Please have them in by that date as well as the payment which you can complete online in your My CBE account. We are still in need of 11 more volunteers. If you are able (or have a relative that is able) and have a current police clearance, please email Mrs. Croswell at bpcroswell@cbe.ab.ca Thank you!

5-2 CCOM Field Trip

Volunteers Needed! 5-2's field trip to the Hub for Inspired Learning at Arts Commons is coming up quickly! Permission forms will be sent home shortly. Our class is in need of 5 volunteers for each day of our trip. If you are able to volunteer, please send Mrs. Croswell an email with the day(s) you are able to come along. Welcome to Grade 5!

Welcome to Grade 5-1 with Mrs. Simmons and 5-2 with Mrs. Croswell! We are excited to meet and get to know all of you! We hope to use this first week together to get acquainted with the school, classrooms, and routines. We also would like to take this initial time together to help build up our classroom communities and get to know one another.
