Week at a Glance

It's been a bit of a whirlwind week! The kids have been getting back into their routines and visiting with their friends that they missed over the break.

Reminders:
  • There is a school council meeting on January 16th from 7-9pm.
  • Titan Snack on January 17th! Yah!
  • Report cards will be coming home on January 31st, 2019.

MATH:
  • We have been revisiting multiplication throughout the week.
  • We began working on our understanding of division this week.
  • Take a look at the following video that does a good job of explaining some of the key terms we need to know in division. What is Division?
  • We worked on some problems throughout the week as well dealing with Girl Guide cookies and some unknown shape and space measurements.
SCIENCE:
  • We continued to work on collecting weather data on our assigned cities.
  • We worked on transferring some of that data into graphs.
  • We will be moving towards creating some infographics in the upcoming weeks to show off how great (or not so fantastic) our assigned cities are.
  • More fun to come as we further study some of the wild and wacky weather happening around the world!
HUMS:
  • Recent assignment grades have been added in Power School. Please make sure you are checking!
  • We finished our Holes projects this week! They are looking great! Expect marks to be in Power School next week.
  • We are continuing our journey in the Bayou Tourterelle with Bingo and J'miah in "The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp" and are still taking notes as well as recognizing difficult vocabulary words.
  • Next week we move into our next topic of study for the year: Canadian History! We are starting all the way back at Pre-Contact and going until present day. Wow - that is a lot of history!
  • If you want to get a jump on next week, feel free to visit www.firstpeoplesofcanada.com and take a look at the different Indigenous groups.
