Thank you!

A huge thank you to all the students and parents for the lovely gifts to Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Croswell. We were truly spoiled. We hope the winter break bring laughter, love, happiness, and lots of family time together. Thank you for sharing your children with us, we are truly blessed! See everyone on January 8th, 2019!

December 18th

HUMS Tomorrow students will be having their Region Quiz as well as presenting their Region Slideshow in groups. Reminder that there was a study session at 8am on Monday in Mrs. Croswell's room if you needed it. Information for the quiz and guiding ideas were posted on the Humanities page of the blog and are still available to access. Make sure you study for tomorrow! Region artifacts are DUE on Thursday, Dec. 20th. 

Week at a Glance

Remember to wear your PJs on December 17th and bring a mug with a lid to enjoy your hot chocolate! If you don't have a mug, a cup will be provided for you.  HUMS We have begun reading The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp! We are making notes of what is going on in each part of the story, listening for unfamiliar words, and creating illustrations of what we imagine while we are listening to the story. We are heading toward the end of our Canadian Physical Regions project! Creative writing pieces were due today and artifacts will be due Thursday, December 20th . Please make sure materials are coming to school so you can work with them here. You are welcome and encouraged to also work on these at home if you would like. Remember that we are having a small region quiz on Wednesday, December 19th . Please visit the Humanities page of the blog for more information about this.

December 12th

HUMS Please remember that the region creative writing piece is due this Friday, December 14th. It needs to be typed, printed, and designed according to the blue booklet. There will be a morning study session on Monday, Dec. 17th @ 8:00am in Mrs. Croswell's room if you need extra quiet time to study or have questions/need help! This is optional and anyone from 5-1 or 5-2 is welcome to attend! The quiz will be on Wednesday, Dec. 19th.

December 11th

Concert Reminders:  Choir singers should be here for 5pm. Look for Mrs. Simmons! Everyone else in grade five should be here by 5:10pm in the AUX gym. Students will be done by 6:00pm. See you tonight!! HUMS Canadian Physical Regions Artifacts for 5-1 and 5-2 will be due next Thursday on December 20th. We will be having a small regions quiz on Wednesday next week. Check out the HUMS page on the blog for resources to help you study and make sure you are familiar with your region! You will need to be able to list all 6 regions and label them on a map.

December 10th

Dear Grade 5 parents and guardians, A friendly reminder that our concert is this coming Tuesday December 11th. This will be an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning, experience performance, and share their music. Thank you again to the Grade 5 teaching team for helping us with this!   We invite all Grade 5 friends and family to this performance! Thank you to those of you who have communicated schedule conflicts with me. We now are aware of student attendance for the evening performance. Week(s) at a Glance

Thank you so much for coming to conferences, seeing all the hard work your students have put into the last three months, and taking the time to chat with us!  HUMS We are hard at work finishing up our Canadian Physical Regions task! We are currently on our creative writing piece (blue booklet) or have recently finished this. 5-1 will be working on the creative writing pieces next week as they were away at Open Minds last week. 5-2 should prepare to be working on their artifacts (purple booklet). Make sure to bring any building materials you need for your artifact early next week! We have also finished reading Holes and have watched the movie! We talked about the differences and similarities and created a Venn Diagram to display them. Next week we will begin working on our Holes Choice Board activity. Students have a choice between 12 different options for their final project. Some of these are written pieces, presentation-based pieces, and creative pieces (see below)! Stu...
